Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes is in his second reign as the champion of the blue brand following SummerSlam in New Jersey. Meanwhile, Sam Roberts believes Drew McIntyre will finally dethrone The American Nightmare.
Cody Rhodes entered into a heated feud with Drew McIntyre on SmackDown after SummerSlam 2025, where The Scottish Warrior Claymore kicked the newly crowned champion's head into the announcer's booth. The two have been feuding for months, and Rhodes often leaves with his title.
Speaking on the Notsam Wrestling podcast, the WWE analyst stated that he wants to see Drew McIntyre dethrone Cody Rhodes. Roberts stated that even a quick switch would benefit both, as the feud started months ago. The pick sounds surprising, as McIntyre has had two title matches and failed to win either.
"That’s why I was saying I want to see Drew McIntyre win the title. Even if it’s just like a quick switch, even if it’s not like a long run, giving Drew McIntyre the title and having Cody Rhodes beat him back for it would be a good thing," Roberts said. In September 2025, Drew McIntyre lost to Cody Rhodes in a title match at Wrestlepalooza. However, the feud didn't end, as McIntyre made it personal and got himself a match with a unique stipulation. During their second encounter, The American Nightmare accidentally used his title to ensure the win, which infuriated the challenger.
Both stars have crossed lines on Friday Night SmackDown, and Cody Rhodes has acted out of character to deal with The Scottish Warrior. Recently, The American Nightmare attacked Drew McIntyre in his own house, and the two will continue their feud heading into a new year.

According to recent tapings of WWE SmackDown, Drew McIntyre's suspension was lifted, and the two will have a Three Stages of Hell match on January 9th in Berlin, Germany. It'll be interesting to see if McIntyre can finally win the Undisputed WWE Championship from Rhodes.
