The heated confrontation between Steve Kerr and Draymond Green during a game on Monday dominated the headlines recently. In a media availability recently, the Golden State Warriors coach took accountability for the incident.

The exchange between Kerr and Green during the third quarter of the 120-97 win over the Orlando resulted in Green storming to the locker room. He returned to the bench in the final frame, but was not re-inserted into the game.

During his post-practice press conference on Wednesday, Kerr said the incident was not his "finest hour." The four-time champion coach added that he and Green have already apologized to each other and to the rest of the team.

Kerr also expressed confidence that they would move past the incident. Furthermore, Golden State would not penalize Green for leaving the bench.

"I was very much at fault for what happened the other night, so there’s no need to even discuss anything like that," Kerr said.

Many fans and pundits have speculated that Green will receive a suspension or a fine. While the four-time NBA champion has had similar incidents like this before, the recent confrontation was magnified as Golden State struggles this season.

Coming into their Christmas Day game against the Dallas Mavericks, the Warriors are No. 8 in the Western Conference with a 15-15 record.

Steve Kerr describes the Warriors as a 'fading dynasty'

In the same media availability on Wednesday, Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr reflected on the incident with Draymond Green and assessed where the team is at right now.

"Where we are as a team, as an organization, the most important thing for me is for guys to recognize that there’s beauty in the struggle," Kerr said. "There’s beauty in what we’re trying to accomplish right now. We are no longer the ‘17 Warriors, dominating the league. We are a fading dynasty. We know that. Everyone knows that."

According to Kerr, struggles are "part of life," and it is up to the players to believe in what they can accomplish this season.

Led by its aging stars, Golden State came into the season with eyes on a deep postseason run. Fans have expected more from the Warriors after retooling this offseason. However, they currently sit at the .500 mark, and would have to go through the play-in tournament if the playoffs started today.

Green is expected to play in Thursday's game against the Dallas Mavericks. He is part of the Kerr's new starting lineup, alongside Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler, Moses Moody and Quinten Post. Kerr said last week that the five-man group will be the team's starters for the "foreseeable future."
