The Seattle Seahawks' defense took a hit this offseason when safety Coby Bryant left for the Chicago Bears in free agency.
Seattle utilized three safeties on defense in 2025 but only have two starting-caliber players at the position in Julian Love and Nick Emmanwori, so more help is needed.
A trade suggestion from Bleacher Report's Moe Moton would address that issue. He pitches a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers that would acquire safety DeShon Elliott.
Here's Moton's thoughts on the Steelers possibly dealing Elliott:
"The Pittsburgh Steelers may be willing to deal Elliott after they signed safeties Jaquan Brisker and Darnell Savage. Unless Jalen Ramsey moves into the slot full-time, Elliott could play in a reduced role coming off an injury-riddled campaign," Moton wrote.
Elliott was one of the bright spots in the Steelers' secondary in 2024, but he saw his 2025 campaign cut short due to a knee injury that landed him on injured reserve in October.
He would be a great fit in Seattle, as he's a starting-caliber player who can line up in the slot, in the box or at free safety.
The problem with this suggestion is the Steelers are highly unlikely to trade Elliott, who remains a key piece in the defense.
The Steelers did add Jaquan Brisker and Darnell Savage, but the latter was likely brought in as depth rather than to be a starter.
We would also suspect that the addition of Jamel Dean opposite Joey Porter Jr. will send Jalen Ramsey back to the slot.
Knowing all that, it would be surprising to see the Steelers move Elliott.
