Spencer Jones will start the season at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
That's not his fault, though. The left-handed slugger had an immense spring for the New York Yankees.
This is all about the roster crunch. The Yankees' starting outfield is Aaron Judge, Trent Grisham and Cody Bellinger.
At the DH spot, Giancarlo Stanton resides.
Jasson Dominguez couldn't even find a spot on the Opening Day roster after ample playing time last season. He'll be at Triple-A, too.

Jones, though, is the most fascinating name in this discussion. He has as prodigious power as anyone in baseball, maybe aside from Judge.
His swing-and-miss is a concern, but when Jones connects, watch out.
And he just put up absurd numbers this spring: .385 batting average, 6 home runs, 1.621 OPS, even 3 stolen bases.

As things stand now, it seems unlikely that Jones ever would've had a real chance to make the Yankees' roster for game one unless there had been an injury.
But if he keeps hitting like this at Triple-A, Jones will keep putting the pressure on. The Yankees can only leave down a hitter with this much upside for so long.
Eventually, Jones is going to slug his way to a chance.
