Loyola student Sheridan Gorman’s mom makes solemn vow after daughter was ‘executed by illegal migrant’

The “shattered” mother of a New York teen murdered near her Chicago university vowed to get “justice” for daughter — but refused to even acknowledge the migrant gunman accused of executing her in front of her friends.

“We are gonna get justice for Sheridan,” said Jessica Gorman — the mother of slain 18-year-old Sheridan Gorman — outside the family’s Yorktown Heights home on Monday.

“We have a voice and it’s gonna be heard,” the grieving mom told The Post. “We are beyond shattered.”

But Jessica and the family decided to save their voices for Sheridan alone this week as they mourn and bury her.

She wouldn’t spare a single word for the Venezuelan migrant charged with her murder, 25-year-old Jose Medina-Medina.

“We are really focusing this week specifically on burying our daughter. We are really focusing on the beauty of her life,” Jessica said. “We are not addressing this man.”

Sheridan’s family — who previously described her as “deeply loving” and “everybody’s cheerleader” — have been left gutted by her death.

“When they say that your heart is broken or it feels like it’s ripped out of your chest, it’s real,” Jessica said through tears. “It’s so real, I wouldn’t wish this upon anyone.”

The teen was a devout Christian, a star bowler and high school athlete, and had been giddy to begin studying business at Loyola last fall.

“We decided this week we are only going to focus on Sheridan and celebrating our beauty.”

Sheridan was killed Thursday around 1:30 a.m. near Chicago’s Tobey Prinz Beach, where she and friends from school were trying to catch a glimpse of the northern lights.

That’s when a masked man jumped out of the shadows and pulled out a gun, and when the group fled he fired a single shot that struck Sheridan in the head and killed her.

Medina-Medina was quickly arrested after security cameras caught the entire attack, and filmed him walking off into an apartment building where he was seen removing his mask.

The suspect crossed the border illegally in May 2023 under former President Joe Biden, and was released into the country. He was then arrested for shoplifting from a Macy’s in Chicago, but was let go under the city’s sanctuary policies.

“Sheridan Gorman had her whole life ahead of her before this cold-blooded killer decided to end her life,” said DHS Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis after Medina-Medina’s arrest.
