Jayden Daniels and Sam Hartman arrived at Northwest Stadium for the Washington Commanders' Week 17 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. However, both quarterbacks will not suit up for the game. Daniels is recovering from an elbow injury, while Hartman has been left out despite being fit.
Daniels wore a bright red hooded sweatshirt with bold white “MARTY SUPREME” lettering across the chest. He completed the look with light blue jeans and tan suede boots.
Hartman had a green and red windbreaker jacket on with “MARTY SUPREME” in front. He combined it with khaki pants, brown leather shoes and a Santa hat. The team shared the quarterbacks' looks on X.

Here are more fan reactions.
"Time to move on from hartman dude cant even sniff the 53 man roster after the whole team and qb room ended up on IR how pathetic," one fan wrote. "(Jayden we want you to heal your elbow, u need rest ) THE PEOPLE WANT HARTMAN," a fan tweeted. "Wtf does Hartman do here?" one fan commented.Daniels' second season has been plagued by injuries. He suffered a left knee sprain in Week 2 during a scramble, forcing him to miss two games. Daniels briefly returned before a hamstring injury sidelined him for another start in Week 7. He dislocated his left elbow while attempting to score on a scramble in Week 9 against the Seattle Seahawks.
Daniels received medical clearance to return in Week 14 against Minnesota on Dec. 7. However, he exited in the third quarter after throwing an interception and attempting to tackle Vikings linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel on the return. Daniels was pushed down hard, directly onto his injured left elbow. Washington announced on Dec. 16 that he won't play again this season.
Why is Sam Hartman not playing against the Cowboys?
Sam Hartman has been excluded due to tactical reasons despite being on the roster. With Marcus Mariota's hand stitched up and dealing with a quadriceps strain, and Daniels out for the season, the Commanders needed a third quarterback.
The team elevated 18-year veteran Josh Johnson, who is set to make his first start since 2018. Washington also signed Jeff Driskel from the Arizona Cardinals practice squad as Johnson's backup.
Commanders coach Dan Quinn explained that Hartman didn't get enough team reps.
