Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr drew a parallel between Shohei Ohtani and Steph Curry. While speaking to the media on Monday, Kerr was delighted to learn that the World Series matchup featuring the LA Dodgers and the Toronto Blue Jays was still ongoing after the Warriors' game against the Memphis Grizzlies.
A reporter asked Kerr if Ohtani could be compared to Curry due to his tendency to shine in the biggest moments. The Warriors coach answered, suggesting that both his team’s legendary guard and Ohtani are cut from the same cloth.
“I haven’t made that connection between those two athletes,” Kerr said. “There are certain guys who seem to step up in the moment and they both qualify obviously.”•

Shohei Ohtani has put up monumental performances one after another, leading the LA Dodgers to their second consecutive World Series this season.
During the team’s NLCS matchup against the Milwaukee Brewers, Ohtani hit three home runs in what is now being hailed as one of the best performances in baseball history.
Ohtani kept his good run going on Monday as he finished Game 3 of the World Series with two home runs, two doubles and five walks. With the Dodgers leading the series 2-1, he is two wins away from winning his second championship.
How Shohei Ohtani and Steph Curry broke barriers beyond the field in 2025
While Steph Curry and Ohtani are undeniably enjoying success on the field, they have also been pushing the limits of what an athlete can earn off it. In Forbes’ list of the world’s highest-paid athletes in 2025, Ohtani and Curry are the only athletes to generate $100 million off the field.
Curry ranked second in the list, earning $156 million. His NBA salary was close to $56 million, with the rest coming through his off-field dealings, including his deal with Under Armour.
Steph Curry also generated income through his investments in Unrivaled, Nirvana water, and Plezi Hydration, which is a joint initiative by Steph and Michelle Obama. Furthermore, he produced documentaries and a comedy series through his media company, Unanimous Media.
Meanwhile, Shohei Ohtani was ranked ninth on the list, earning $102.5 million. His deferred salary only contributed $2 million to that figure, as Ohtani made the rest through off-field endorsements.
Ohtani works with companies in both the U.S. and Japan, including New Balance, Beats by Dre, Kose skincare and Seiko watches.
