Why Caris LeVert isn't playing for Pistons vs. Cavs with new injury update

Caris LeVert was going to get his first chance to play his former team on Monday night.

The Detroit Pistons, LeVert's new squad, are taking on the Cleveland Cavaliers, the team LeVert just left.

But when the game tips off, LeVert will be in street clothes.

There'll be more chances for these nearby foes to play this season, and for LeVert to be out there. But he's missing this one.

Why isn't Caris LeVert playing?

Caris LeVert isn't playing Monday night because of a late rule out due to injury.

He was listed as questionable but was eventually sat down due to a hamstring injury.

LeVert has played just one game for the Pistons so far. He was on the floor for 21 minutes and scored eight points with two assists, one rebound and one steal.

With both LeVert and Jaden Ivey out, the guard rotation starts to get just a little thing for the Pistons. They're also missing Marcus Sasser.

It likely means that Ausar Thompson will have to handle more playmaking duties, in addition to the usual workload for Cade Cunningham, who might get more minutes on this night than usual given the matchup with one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference.
