Ridge Holland praised Big E amid his exit from WWE. Holland's contract was set to expire on November 14, but it was terminated early due to his recent post on social media criticizing the promotion.
Big E is a former WWE Champion, but has not competed in a match since the March 11, 2022, edition of SmackDown. He teamed up with Kofi Kingston to battle Sheamus and Ridge Holland in a tag team match during the show. The action spilled outside the ring, and Holland hit the veteran with a move outside the ring that did not go as planned, and the former New Day star suffered a broken neck.
Ridge Holland shared a video today revealing that he would always regret that spot, and it should have ended with the former champion's Suicide Dive outside the ring. He then disclosed that Big E forgave him and praised him as a person.
"Unfortunately, it happened, and I will always regret that spot. And I'm grateful that Big E, the class of human that he is, you know, he forgave me. He's been able to be so positive and move on with his life. And going into punditry, and all of this stuff he does for the community, with like collegiate athletes and stuff. I think he has worked on the Next In Line stuff, so he's killing it, man. He's such a good human being and I wish nothing but for the best for him," he said.Holland then noted that there was no malice involved in the spot, and he wished he could change what happened.
"Just for people out there who think that there might have been any malice in there, there wasn't, and if I could change it, I would in a heartbeat," he added. You can check out the full video below:
Holland spent some time on WWE's main roster in The Brawling Brutes faction alongside Sheamus and Pete Dunne.
Bryan Alvarez claims WWE is heartless for letting Ridge Holland go
Wrestling journalist Bryan Alvarez recently shared his thoughts on Ridge Holland's situation with the company.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Alvarez claimed that WWE was heartless and could have easily afforded to pay him while he recovered from injury. He pointed out that John Cena's merchandise could employ wrestlers for years.
"It’s not even a financial thing. With the amount of money they bring in, they can afford it. It’s just heartless. Do you know how many wrestlers they could employ for years on what Cena’s merch made this weekend? People are saying 90% of the crowd was wearing his shirt,” Alvarez said. [H/T Ringside News]Ridge Holland talks about the accident with Big E and how it affected him: “I think what affected me more than anything was the Big E thing. I just want to say that if I had a time machine right here, right now, the first thing that I would do is go back and not do that spot.
It will be fascinating to see what lies ahead for Ridge Holland following his WWE departure.
