Wrestling veteran and WCW legend Goldberg recently fired shots at the WWE. He took issue with the company booking Asuka to break his streak.
During the height of the Monday Night Wars, Goldberg emerged as one of the biggest homegrown stars for WCW. The company booked him dominantly with an undefeated streak of 173-0. During a recent interview, the former WCW World Hevayweight Champion fired shots at WWE. He suggested that his differences with Triple H probably had a role in "some girl" beating his winning streak.
This week on Jim Cornette's Drive Thru, veteran wrestling manager Jim Cornette detailed that the WCW legend's distasteful remarks may have been because of the way WWE treated his retirement match earlier this year. Cornette also noted that several legends, such as Bret Hart, have said that Goldberg didn't really understand the inner workings of the wrestling business too well. This may have led him to draw his own inferences.
"No, that was a complete botch of live television, and just, it was a mess. I don't blame him for being p*ssed off about that. Again, a lot of these things can be true. Bret said Goldberg's wasn't really smart to the business, he wasn't really. Still probably not in relation to somebody who was involved in it for years and years in a high level would be. And Asuka is a philosopher."John Cena's last opponent leaked? Check here!
Goldberg's retirement match was at Saturday Night's Main Event
The WCW legend had his final match at Saturday Night Main Event on July 12, in front of his home fans in Atlanta, Georgia. The star faced then World Heavyweight Champion Gunther in a brutal singles match.
The legendary wrestler was unhappy with the way his farewell was handled, with his speech getting cut off. He was vocal about this unfair treatment during his final outing with the company.
