Real Madrid are in line to receive a substantial amount as former defender Mario Gila has been linked with a move to Inter Milan, as per reports. The Serie A side are looking to reinforce their backline and have their sights set on Lazio star Gila.

Italian outlet Il Messaggero has reported (via Madrid Universal) that Los Blancos could receive up to €10 million if Gila joins Inter Milan in 2026. The Spanish giants own 50% of the rights of the Spanish centre-back, who is expected to cost around €20 million to join the Nerazzurri.

Real Madrid often try to retain some measure of control over their young players whenever they leave the club by inserting certain clauses in their contracts. As in the case of Gila, they are entitled to half of any transfer fee, and in some other cases, they retain clauses that allowed them to re-sign the player at a fixed price.

Mario Gila has developed into a defensive leader for Lazio since joining the club for €6 million in 2022, and has played in 11 Serie A games this season. The 25-year-old has now made 95 appearances for the club, and may look to move elsewhere in a bid to win silverware.

Inter Milan are in a rebuild under Christian Chivu, and are looking for replacements for the ageing Francesco Acerbi and Matteo Damian at the back. They are out to reclaim the Serie A title which they lost to Napoli in the 2024-25 season.

Ex-Real Madrid star hints at possible return to club

Former Real Madrid midfielder Chema Andres has revealed that a return to the Spanish giants would represent a dream come true for him. The Spain U-21 international left the Bernabeu for Germany in the summer, pitching his tent with Stuttgart in the Bundesliga.

Andres spoke with AS about his career goals and ambitions, answering a question of whether a return to his boyhood club is something he desires. The 20-year-old replied in the affirmative, pointing out, however, that his undivided attention is on the present with Stuttgart, and he will not speak of a move.

“It’s every player’s dream. I’m not focused on that. I’m young and I have to concentrate on the day-to-day, and right now I’m thinking about the matches with the Under-21s and then Stuttgart, where I’m very happy. The way they’re treating me is incredible", he said (via Sports Illustrated).

Chema Andres left Los Blancos for a measly €3 million to play in Germany, and Real Madrid retained a buyback clause for the young Spaniard. Reports indicate that they have a clause worth €13.5 million for next year and €18 million in 2027. The youngster has already played seven times in Bundesliga, and will soon be worth more of he continues with his rapid development.
