The Nebraska Volleyball team earned a 3-1 victory over UCLA in front of 10,498 fans. Although the Huskers proved to be dominant over the UCLA team, the Bruins broke their 48 consecutive sweep win. Coach Busboom Kelly's team led the game for the first two sets with 25-17, 25-23. In the third set, the Bruins overpowered the Huskers with 25-19. This was the moment when the coaching staff, including Busboom Kelly, realized that their opponent was giving more effort on defense.
The coaching staff told the team that they were being out played and out worked defensively," Coach Dani Busboom Kelly said. (via cornnation.com)In the fourth set, the Huskers made a strong comeback with Harper Murray and Rebekah Allick scoring a block and a kill apiece for a 4-1 advantage. Jackson and Murray then added more kills and led the team to 10-4. On Allick's 13th kill, the Nebraska Women's volleyball team earned the set and continued their dominance of the 2025 season.
Nebraska volleyball's Rebekah Allick once opened up on the team's approach after losing a set
Nebraska Volleyball's Rebekah Allick once opened up about the team's mental approach towards losing a set. In an interview with Hail Varsity, she stated that the team would maintain its focus on process while remembering the former coach John Cook's perspective. She highlighted that although not losing a set is an accolade, it does not ensure victory.
"Just keep playing," Allick said. "I feel like if we become fixated on the outcome, it has never ever worked in anyone's favor. So just staying in the moment is huge and a big takeaway that I have from John Cook, like just coaching me over the last few years. He almost used to come with a little bit of an attitude when we were ranked number one. He was like, 'So you think you guys can just coast this week because you're ranked number one?' Just this and that." "Yeah, it's an accolade, but it's nothing more than an Instagram post. It doesn't decide if you want the national championship or conference title or anything. So it's something to be cool and like, 'Oh yeah, that's nice,' but it doesn't determine your win on Friday or Saturday night." (7:30 onwards)The Nebraska Volleyball team will next compete against the USC Trojans on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, California.
