Rams trade rumor is bad news for Patriots, Chiefs, Giants, Raiders

The Los Angeles Rams have no plans to trade wide receiver Davante Adams.

Mike Florio of NBC Sports recently reported that the Rams explored the possibility of trading Adams, but during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday, ESPN's Adam Schefter shut down any trade talk surrounding the multiple-time All-Pro receiver.

"No, they just paid him a $6 million roster bonus on Sunday," Schefter said when asked if the Rams are trading Adams. "You aren't paying a $6 million roster bonus and trading him the next day. That isn't happening anytime soon."

Adams is getting older, but the 33-year-old is still one of the better receivers in football, who led the league in receiving touchdowns last year with 14.

Receiver-needy teams, such as the New England Patriots, New York Giants, Kansas City Chiefs, and Las Vegas Raiders, could have considered trading for Adams to bolster their receiver rooms, but they'll have to look elsewhere now.

Adams is set to hit free agency next offseason, as the two-year deal he signed with Los Angeles last offseason is set to expire after 2026.

However, there's no denying that keeping Adams on the roster for this offseason instead of trading him is the correct move. The six-time Pro Bowler and Puka Nacua are one of the best receiver duos in football and are the engine of the Rams' passing attack, along with MVP quarterback Matthew Stafford.
