Philip Rivers' Indianapolis Colts suffered a 48-27 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Monday Night Football. The Colts' fifth consecutive loss dropped them to an 8-7 record. The Colts, who had their sights set on the AFC No. 1 seed in the first half of the season, sit third in the AFC South and might not even make it to the playoffs amid their losing streak.
The Colts' quarterback opened up about Indianapolis' chances of making the postseason.
"We gotta hold them. Defensively, we should speak up," Rivers said. "We've gotta hold them to one less than our offense can score, and offensively, we need to say that we have to score one point more than the defense gives up. And it's not this whole 'who should've done what'—I don't sense that from the guys at all.•

Philip Rivers came out of retirement to take the Colts' QB mantle after Daniel Jones picked up a season-ending injury in Week 14. However, his second stint with the franchise isn't going the way he would have hoped. The team lost 18-16 to the Seattle Seahawks in the first game with the 44-year-old at the helm.
Rivers posted 23 completions of 35 attempts for 277 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in the loss to the 49ers. The veteran quarterback is hopeful as the Colts prepare for the Week 17 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
How can Philip Rivers and the Colts make it to the postseason?
The Indianapolis Colts are on the verge of getting knocked out of the playoff race following their fifth straight loss. To have a shot at the postseason, the Colts need to win against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 17 and the Houston Texans in Week 18. A loss will eliminate the Colts from postseason contention.
Their season might be over even before they take the field for the next game if the Texans win against the Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday.
