Premier League icon Peter Crouch has sent a message via social media after Erling Haaland's celebration went viral in Manchester City's win over Bournemouth. The Norwegian striker scored twice for the Cityzens in a 3-1 win over the Cherries that lifts them up to second on the log.

Crouch made a reference to Haaland celebrating like a robot, pointing out that he had made the celebration mainstream many years ago, during his playing career. The Manchester City man himself had posted on social media that his celebration was meant to portray him as a robot, in line with what has been said about him in the past.

"I walked so they could run🦾🤖", he commented.

Crouch famously did the robot celebration on multiple occasions during his career that it became his trademark celebration. He first did it in an England shirt in a 2006 friendly against Hungary before keeping the celebration going at club level, too. The former Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur striker scored 106 times in 468 appearances in the English top-flight throughout his career.

Erling Haaland brought out the robot celebration after opening the scoring for his side at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday. He opted against repeating the celebration when he found the net for a second time to put Manchester City 2-1 up on the evening.

Haaland's efforts against the Cherries took him up to 13 goals in only ten Premier League games this season, making this only the third time a player has scored so many in ten games. The Norwegian himself scored 15 goals in the first ten games of the 2022-23 season, and is no stranger to these numbers.

Erling Haaland leads Manchester City to crucial win over Bournemouth

Erling Haaland was once again crucial for Manchester City as they overcame Bournemouth 3-1 to move above the Cherries and into second place in the standings. Pep Guardiola's side bounced back from a defeat to Aston Villa last week to keep their slim title hopes alive.

Haaland needed just 17 minutes to open the scoring for the Cityzens after latching onto a header from Rayan Cherki. Guardiola's side were pegged back shortly afterwards, with Tyler Adams profiting from a rare mistake from Gianluigi Donnarumma to volley home in the 25th minute.

Erling Haaland doubled his tally for the day and restored his side's lead eight minutes later, when Cherki set him up for his 13th league goal. Manchester City put the seal on the win on the hour mark, as Phil Foden assisted Nico O'Reilly to score his first goal of the season from left-back. The Cityzens are now six points behind league leaders Arsenal after a quarter of the campaign.
