Packers predicted to sign $10 million edge rusher as Rashan Gary replacement

The Green Bay Packers haven't exactly had an exciting offseason.

Not only have the Packers had a lack of excitement in free agency, their biggest move of the offseason was trading Rashan Gary away to the Dallas Cowboys.

As disappointing as Gary was last season, the Packers still need to replace the 7.5 sacks he posted in 2025, which is no easy feat at this stage of free agency.

But The Sporting News' Vinnie Iyer has a solid solution. He predicts the Packers will sign former Arizona Cardinals edge rusher Calais Campbell, who Spotrac projects will land a one-year, $10.9 million deal in free agency.

"Campbell would make sense signing late to reunite with Jonathan Gannon," Iyer said of Campbell to the Packers.

While Campbell isn't the player he once was as he prepares to turn 40 in September, he continues to be a solid contributor on a yearly basis.

Over the last four years, Campbell has posted five or more sacks in each campaign, and he tallied 6.5 in 2025. He has also proven to be durable, with Campbell not missing a single game over the past three seasons.

Campbell is also a fantastic locker room guy and leader, which is perfect for a Packers team that is on the younger side.

And it's possible the six-time Pro Bowler will have an interest in Green Bay, a team that, at the very least, will offer him a chance to play some postseason ball.

The Packers are sitting with $22 million in cap space at the moment, so they should be able to swing a deal for Campbell, who will likely come in under Spotrac's projection.
