The Cleveland Guardians have alternatives to Kyle Manzardo.
And right now, it's looking like they could need those other options at first base. Manzardo's bat is looking like a problem at the moment.
The caveat, of course, is that it's just Spring Training. Players are working on things. It doesn't always dictate what happens in the season ahead.
But this spring, Manzardo has been brutal.
He has stepped into the batter's box 44 times. He has four singles and a home run for five hits (.122 average). He has also struck out 16 times and walked just three.
Given that Manzardo hit only .234 last season with a .768 OPS, he's not immune to being benched if the Guardians don't get the production they need out of him.
And this year, the Guardians likely have other options.

They signed Rhys Hoskins in the offseason, and while he can DH, he could also play first base.
They also have the promising youngster CJ Kayfus, although he's currently expected to miss the roster.
Manzardo will likely get some runway to begin the season, but he'll have to heat up here in the end of the spring and then into the regular season. If he doesn't, there are other guys who are more than capable of taking the Cleveland first base job and running with it.
