Yoshiki Inamura has won the GHC Heavyweight Championship. The 32-year-old made history after completing his WWE excursion under NXT.

In November 2024, Pro Wrestling NOAH announced that Inamura began his overseas excursion with NXT. He immediately formed a tag team with Josh Briggs and entered a battle royal for a shot at the NXT Tag Team Titles.

During his time in NXT, Inamura pinned then-TNA World Champion, Trick Williams, in a six-man tag team match. This resulted in him earning a shot at the TNA World Title, but he passed the title shot to Briggs and set his sights on the NXT Title.

On November 18th, at Pro Wrestling NOAH Star Navigation, Inamura challenged Kenta for the GHC Heavyweight Championship. The finish to the match saw Inamura hit Kenta with a top rope splash for the win.

Yoshiki Inamura and Josh Briggs confirmed their split in their pursuit of the NXT Championship

Yoshiki Inamura and Josh Briggs quickly became a popular tag team on WWE NXT. However, they were never able to capture the NXT Tag Team Titles, even unsuccessfully challenging Hank and Tank for the belts.

Inamura and Briggs confirmed their split as a tag team on NXT TV after the Japanese star accidentally eliminated Briggs from a Battle Royal to decide the #1 contender for the NXT Championship.

Backstage, this is what Briggs had to say to his now-former tag team partner:

"I know what you're going to say. I disappointed you. Unable to win tonight. I am sorry. I have talked to Ava. Tonight, I'm going back to Japan. Please. I wish I could have been a better partner for you. [Hands Josh Briggs his jacket] Goodbye, my friend."

Inamura's first defense of his newly won Heavyweight Title will be against Kaito Kiyomiya. After the new champion's win over Kenta, he called out Kiyomiya.
