Netflix has officially announced a new FIFA game timed around the World Cup 2026. Unlike earlier FIFA titles that were built primarily for consoles and PCs, this upcoming release is designed for mobile phones and will be developed and published by Delphi Interactive. The game will be available at no extra cost to Netflix subscribers, underlining Netflix’s continued push into interactive entertainment.

For decades, FIFA’s branding was tied to EA Sports. That partnership ended in 2023, leading Electronic Arts to rebrand the franchise as EA Sports FC, popularly known as EA FC. Since then, fans have been left wondering when and how FIFA would return to the gaming scene. Even speculations surfaced of a potential revival of the series with 2K Games. Now, FIFA’s comeback is finally confirmed, but as a mobile game backed by Netflix.

Rather than trying to compete head-on with traditional simulation-heavy football games, Netflix’s approach focuses on accessibility. By choosing mobile as the platform, the game aims to reach a broader, more global audience, especially in regions where smartphones are the primary way people play games. It also aligns with FIFA’s ambition to connect with fans beyond hardcore gamers.

The recently announced FIFA game is being developed to celebrate the much-awaited FIFA World Cup 2026. After all, it is one of the biggest cultural and sporting events of the decade. Alain Tascan, President of Netflix Games, believes the game will allow fans to engage with the tournament in a more personal way.

“The FIFA World Cup is going to be the cultural event of 2026, and now fans will be able to celebrate their fandom by bringing the game right into their living rooms,”

He further added that Netflix aims to bring football back to its roots with a game that anyone can enjoy with just a few taps.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino echoed similat sentiment, describing the partnership with Netflix Games and Delphi Interactive as a major step in FIFA’s push for innovation. He said the reimagined FIFA game aims to reach billions of fans of all ages worldwide and will be free for Netflix members. He also called it the start of a new era for digital football.

Delphi Interactive also stressed its focus on fun and inclusivity. Founder and CEO Casper Daugaard said the studio wants to make the FIFA game the most approachable and globally appealing football experience yet. Delphi President Andy Kleinman added that the team’s goal is to create a game that anyone, anywhere, can pick up and instantly enjoy some footballing magic.
