The Los Angeles Lakers have a strong need for a big man after sending Anthony Davis to the Dallas Mavericks as the headlining piece of the Luka Dončić trade. While they followed that move by acquiring Mark Williams from the Charlotte Hornets, they wound up backing out of the deal due to concerns over his medical history.
Los Angeles went into the postseason with Jaxson Hayes and Alex Len as the only centers on their roster. The two combined to play just 35 total minutes as the Lakers were bounced in five games. Following the Memphis Grizzlies shocking decision to send Desmond Bane to the Orlando Magic, there has been plenty of speculation about whether or not Ja Morant or Jaren Jackson Jr. will also be made available.
While many fans have suggested that Los Angeles should go after the latter, Brian Windhorst recently shot down their chances of pulling off another blockbuster. The NBA insider appeared on "Get Up", where he claimed the Lakers have no chance of landing the former Defensive Player of the Year.
"No chance," ESPN's Brian Windhorst claimed Monday. "No chance. It's absolutely not worth a discussion. And look, I think that Jaren Jackson -- he's now in position to sign a contract extension of over $200 million. I would feel like that's very strongly going to happen."

Although the Lakers were able to pull off a blockbuster deal to land Dončić, they gave up another top-ten player in the deal. If the Grizzlies do decide to move on from Jackson Jr., they would likely prefer a package headlined by draft capital.
The two-time All-Star has been among the best defenders in the league since Memphis selected him fourth overall in the 2018 NBA Draft. He averaged 22.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.5 blocks in 29.8 minutes per game this season while shooting 48.8% from the field, 37.5% from three-point range and 78.1% from the free-throw line.
