Realistic Lakers trade idea brings home former Laker favorite, depth, for key player

The Los Angeles Lakers might need to get aggressive this offseason. It seems like other Western Conference teams are going to swing for the fences, and if the Lakers don’t make some trades or signings to keep up, they may find themselves out of the playoffs early once again next season. Although everyone loves the Lakers' trade rumors that land the team another star, they probably aren’t happening. We look at one Lakers trade idea that is actually realistic and could help the team in a big way. 

Lakers trade: Rui Hachimura, Dalton Knecht, and a 2030 pick swap

Sure, this isn’t going to satisfy those who want some really interesting Lakers trade rumors. Still, the Lakers are in need of role players and depth, and this trade gives them exactly that. 

All three players the Lakers would receive in this hypothetical NBA trade would be able to play important minutes for them. All three are decent defenders, and all three can shoot the ball from deep relatively well. 

These are exactly the type of role players that the Lakers need: younger defenders who can help space the floor for LeBron James and Luka Dončić. 

Hachimura is obviously the best player in this trade. However, getting two (or more) solid rotation players in return for him is what the Lakers need to do.

The Lakers already have their stars. All Lakers trades moving forward need to be centered around getting great defenders to cover LeBron and Luka’s mistakes, and three-point shooters that can benefit from their playmaking. This trade does both.
