WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg retired from in-ring competition in July 2025 but often addressed the bias he faced as a WCW wrestler in the Stamford-based promotion. Recently, Dutch Mantell reacted to the multi-time world champion's controversial statement.

A few days ago, Goldberg was interviewed and discussed WWE's ill-treatment of WCW wrestlers when talent signed with the Stamford-based promotion following the purchase. During this, he called Asuka 'some girl' and stated the management blatantly pushed her to break his undefeated record in the company.

Legends and veterans reacted to Goldberg's controversial statement, and fans defended The Empress of Tomorrow. Speaking on Story Time with Dutch Mantell, the legendary manager reacted to the statement and believes the two-time Universal Champion thinks he deserves all the credit.

Moreover, Dutch Mantell stated that making Goldberg an attraction was a team effort, as the two-time World Heavyweight Champion fit the part. However, the 58-year-old WWE veteran would've been nothing without the winning streak, as Mantell stated Da Man had one of the most uninteresting characters in the industry.

"Well, he thinks apparently that his winning streak was all him. Everybody had to be on board with that to get it to work. And he was the right guy to do it. I'm not saying that. But they could've picked anybody to take that spot, but they picked him. And he's the most uninteresting character ever, ever! in the wrestling profession. He just had a winning streak. He looked the part. A former ballplayer. So, everything fit except him," Mantell said.

WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg previously took a shot at Asuka

In 2015, Asuka became the first female Japanese wrestler in over two decades to sign with the Stamford-based promotion and compete on the developmental brand. She eventually broke Goldberg's undefeated streak in the industry when she crossed 173 wins and remained unbeatable for over two years.

Speaking to Tim Green, the two-time WWE Universal Champion was surprised that the company decided to break his streak. Moreover, he took a similar shot at Asuka in the past when he called her 'some Japanese girl' and criticized the management for giving several wrestlers the spear as their finishing move.
