"Maybe that's where he belongs without rocketship": Fans react to Lewis Hamilton's Q1 elimination in the F1 Las Vegas GP

Seven-time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton was eliminated in Q1 at the 2025 Las Vegas GP in what was a wet qualifying session following the downpour in Sin City. Fans took to the social media platform X and reacted to the Briton only managing a qualifying position of P20.

There was a heavy downpour in Las Vegas before the race weekend. However, the practice sessions on Friday were dry. However, there was a downpour before the FP3 session on Saturday, which pushed the drivers to run the intermediate tires followed by a final run on the soft in conditions which were tricky.

Before the qualifying session at Las Vegas, there was again a heavy down which left the track wet. Low circuit grip, low temperature and the standing water pushed the driver to put on the full wet tires for the qualifying. Lewis Hamilton struggled during the Q1 session and failed to make any improvement in his final run.

Hamilton failed to get the tires working in the tricky conditions, as he explained in the post-qualifying team radio. On a low grip damp circuit, the same led to the Briton dead last in qualifying. At the previous race weekend in Brazil, Lewis Hamilton failed to make the Q3 session.

F1 fans took to social media and reacted to Hamilton's Q1 exit as they wrote,

“Hamilton with a stinker.. oh wait.. maybe that's where he belongs without rocketship.” Another commented, “Hamilton is getting fired.” “Hamilton p20 in vegas? thats some vintage bad luck, gotta dig deep tomorrow,” commented another user

Some came out and suggested that Lewis Hamilton is likely to get replaced in 2026.

Lewis Hamilton reacts to Q1 exit at the 2025 Las Vegas GP

Lewis Hamilton spoke with the media after the race and detailed how he failed to improve his final lap following a yellow flag. Alex Albon tagged the wall in the final moment of Q1 and brought out yellow flags.

“I got yellow flags in the last corner and coming into [turn] 17 there was a yellow flag, so I had to have a lift and when I came to the line it was red. That was it,” said Hamilton

The seven time F1 champion detailed how the car felt strong in FP3 yet the tricky conditions in qualifying caught him out.

“It’s very annoying, of course, because I felt like, in FP3, the car was feeling awesome and I thought it was gonna be a great day, but… turned out to be the worst. At least it can’t get much worse than that,” said Hamilton

Charles Leclerc was also in the elimination zone in Q1 before a strong final lap in the session.
