The Miami Marlins are expected to be trade deadline sellers this season, with plenty of names worth mentioning as options for clubs this summer.
Otto Lopez and Xavier Edwards were two who recently began to enter trade rumors, but now, it appears that two different hitters have emerged as the most likely trade candidates for Miami.
According to Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon of The Athletic, the Marlins' change of plans with outfielder/first baseman Kyle Stowers, making him available, is some big news for many teams, including the Cleveland Guardians and Arizona Diamondbacks.
Marlins' change of trade plans with Kyle Stowers is big news for rest of MLB
"As the Miami Marlins ponder trade scenarios, they are discussing catcher Liam Hicks and first baseman/outfielder Kyle Stowers more actively than shortstop Otto Lopez and second baseman Xavier Edwards, according to league sources briefed on their conversations," Rosenthal and Sammon report.
This is an interesting update for the Marlins, as Stowers becoming a legitimate candidate to be traded should be some huge news for many teams in need of outfield or first base help this summer.
The Diamondbacks and Guardians would fit the bill, and since Stowers, the All-Star slugger with 16 home runs this season, is under control through 2029, he's not going to be cheap.

Miami could land a haul for the left-handed slugger this summer. Despite his minor regression from a .912 OPS to a .787 OPS this year, he should still draw heavy interest from many different clubs as a young, controllable slugger.
The Marlins might be major sellers at this year's deadline, and their recent change of plans seems to have opened the door for Stowers to be dealt by the August 3 trade deadline.
Stowers, the 28-year-old former Baltimore Orioles draft pick, might be on the move for the second time in the last three years. He should have plenty of suitors, and the Marlins should be able to land a haul for him if he is on his way out in the next day or so.
