Jets have one reason to expect a better year, NFL expert says

Will this finally be the year the New York Jets rebound? Fingers-crossed that's what will happen.

But, that rebound is certainly not a given. It's hard to say if it's even likely, but one NFL expert truly believes the Jets have a reason to expect a better year.

In a feature for Bleacher Report, NFL analyst Alex Kay lists one reason each NFL team shouldn't be overlooked in 2026. "With Week 1 still on the horizon, every NFL team can make a legitimate argument to exceed expectations during the 2026 season," he says.

Jets have some positive energy right now

Kay says that the Jets have something going for them: "Young players emerging alongside proven vets." He adds that even though this coming season is "largely expected to be more disappointment for a team mired in the league's longest playoff drought, the promising prospects this organization has been collecting could become the type of impact players capable of swinging games."

So, there's a mix of good and bad. He also says that the team "probably won't be in the playoff hunt, but they should at least represent a tougher challenge for opponents this year."

It's certainly too early to tell if the Jets are a playoff team. But, don't write them off before the season has even started. Geno Smith and the crew could surprise people. It'll be exciting to watch rookies like D'Angelo Ponds and David Bailey join up with vets such as Demario Davis and Minkah Fitzpatrick on the field.
