Maria Sharapova’s fiancé, Alexander Gilkes, reacted to Felix Auger-Aliassime’s emotional note following his heartbreaking loss in the 2025 Paris Masters final on Sunday, November 2. He fell to World No. 2 Jannik Sinner in what was an impressive display of tennis from both players.
Auger-Aliassime was hoping to keep his strong form going in Paris after winning titles in Adelaide, Montpellier, and Brussels earlier this year. He had a solid run, beating Francisco Comesana, Alexandre Muller, Daniel Altmaier, Valentin Vacherot, and Alexander Bublik to reach the final, where he faced off against Sinner.
The Canadian gave it everything he had against the Italian, who was in blistering form after his title win in Vienna, but ultimately came up short. Auger-Aliassime lost 4-6, 6-7(4) and later took to Instagram to share an emotional note reflecting on his journey in the French capital.
"A truly beautiful week of fighting here in Paris. Grateful for my team and family for being a massive support that inspires me to reach moments like this💪🏽 It was a true privilege to play in front of such a beautiful crowd at an event that continues to step it up for the players each and every year @rolexparismaster," Felix Auger-Aliassime wrote. "Lastly, my biggest congratulations to Jannik and the whole team 🙌🏽 You deserve every positive thing coming your way and drive all of us to improve each year. From FIFA to now…I hope the battles only continue," he added.Alexander Gilkes, who has been engaged to Maria Sharapova since 2020 and shares a baby boy with her, reacted to Felix Auger-Aliassime’s heartfelt post by leaving a comment under it. The Canadian was in line to qualify for Turin if he reached the semifinals of the Moselle Open, but he has decided to withdraw from the tournament. His decision leaves his ATP Finals hopes in doubt, as World No. 9 Lorenzo Musetti could now overtake him in the standings. Musetti, who is currently competing at the Hellenic Championship in Athens, will qualify if he goes on to win the title.
The confirmed lineup so far for Turin features Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev, Novak Djokovic, Ben Shelton, Taylor Fritz, and Alex de Minaur. The tournament will run from November 9 to 16.
