Manchester United star Matheus Cunha has laughed off a request from an Arsenal fan to join the Gunners. The Brazilian was questioned at the hotel before Brazil's match against Senegal at the Emirates.
In a TikTok video posted by a fan, Cunha was spotted at the hotel with his national teammates. An Arsenal fan asked him if he had any plans to join the Gunners, and the 26-year-old quickly responded (via Metro):
"(laughs) No, thank you."Cunha was linked with a move to the Emirates in the summer, but he opted to join Manchester United. The Red Devils paid £62.5 million to activate his release clause at Wolverhampton and signed him in June.
The Brazilian, who made his Premier League debut for Manchester United against the Gunners, revealed that it was a dream to join the Red Devils and said:
"Ever since I was a child in Brazil watching Premier League games on TV at my grandmother's house, United was my favourite English team and I dreamed of wearing the red shirt. I want to thank my family and everyone who has helped me make that dream a reality." "I can't wait for the start of pre-season to get to know my team-mates and prepare for the season ahead. All my focus is now on working hard to become a valuable part of the team, and helping get this club back to the top."The forward has scored once in the 10 Premier League matches so far. His only goal came in the 4-2 win over Brighton & Hove Albion in October.
Arsenal not favorites for Premier League title, says Manchester United legend
Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has backed Manchester City for the Premier League title despite Arsenal's impressive start. He believes that Pep Guardiola's side have impressed in their big games and said on The Good, The Bad & The Football (via Metro):
"I’ve not been impressed by City that much but yesterday [against Liverpool], I thought for the first time they’re going to be [challengers]. I think they’re slightly still favourites ahead of Arsenal, because of what they’ve done. I know Arsenal are four points clear, but with the experience they’ve got and Arsenal haven’t. You have to put them [City] slightly ahead of them."Arsenal are currently four points clear of Manchester City in the Premier League table. The two sides drew 1-1 earlier this season, and next face in April 2026.
