Man United refuse to give up on 20-year-old star after rejected bid

Manchester United are not backing down in their pursuit of Lecce’s young left-back Patrick Dorgu.

Despite having their initial £22.8 million bid rejected, the club is reportedly preparing a new offer in hopes of securing the 20-year-old talent.

The Red Devils’ first approach failed to meet Lecce’s demands, but they remain determined to sign Dorgu. However, they now face competition from Serie A giants Napoli, who could swoop in and hijack the deal.

Napoli are already working on a move for United’s Alejandro Garnacho, and the Premier League club is eager to avoid losing another player to Antonio Conte’s side.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, United’s next bid is expected to fall short of Lecce’s £33.8 million asking price.

However, Dorgu is reportedly eager to join the English club, and there should be no issues in agreeing to personal terms if a transfer fee is settled.

Why Man United wants Patrick Dorgu?

Dorgu has shown impressive versatility this season, excelling as a left-back, left wing-back, and even on the right flank. Standing at 6 feet 1 inch, his physical presence and attacking contributions have caught United’s attention.

With Luke Shaw struggling to stay fit and Tyrell Malacia only just returning from injury, United are in desperate need of a reliable left-sided defender.

Manager Ruben Amorim has been forced to play Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui out of position, making Dorgu a much-needed addition.

The Danish defender has made 56 appearances for Lecce, scoring five goals and providing two assists. He also made an impressive senior debut for Denmark, scoring against Switzerland in September.

Despite their efforts to bring Dorgu to Old Trafford, United have reportedly faced a setback in their pursuit of Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies. However, the club remains hopeful they can finalize a deal for the promising young defender this month.
