Liu Mengyang prepared three KO strikes for Tawanchai fight: “I was thinking that one of these three techniques would knock him out”

Chinese kickboxing superstar ‘Spirit Dragon’ Liu Mengyang came into his fight against featherweight Muay Thai king Tawanchai PK Saenchai with a full arsenal of weapons.

Liu shocked the world in his first-round destruction of Tawanchai at ONE Friday Fights 137: Tawanchai vs. Liu last weekend at the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. A single leg kick sent Tawanchai crumpling to the canvas in pain.

Speaking to ONE Championship in a recent interview, Liu described how the finish came together and how he planned for it to happen.

“I prepared three techniques before the fight. One was a calf kick, the other was a kick to the stomach, and the last one was a punch. Before the fight, I was thinking that one of these three techniques would knock him out.”

Needless to say, Liu has made a habit of scoring major upsets against fighters he was never supposed to beat. This includes wins over former ONE interim featherweight kickboxing world champion Masaaki Noiri, and top-five fighter Shadow Singha Mawynn.

‘Spirit Dragon’ Liu Mengyang of China feels he’s earned a shot at the ONE featherweight kickboxing world title after his TKO victory over Tawanchai PK Saenchai at ONE Friday Fights 137.

The Chinese superstar called out reigning king Superbon for a showdown. He said on Instagram:

“For my next match, I want the belt. Superbon, your belt! It's time to put it on my shoulder.”
