Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick ripped his team after a blowout 119-96 loss to the Houston Rockets on Thursday.
Redick didn't mince words after the game, as he lamented his team's attention to detail and execution.
"The two words of the day were effort and execution," Redick said. "When we've done both of those things at a high level, we've been a good basketball team. When we haven't, we're a terrible basketball team."
Redick hasn't been pleased with the Lakers lately. He called out his team's defensive effort after a 132-108 defeat to the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday.
"We don't care enough right now. That's the part that bothers you a lot. We don't care enough to do the things that are necessary. We don't care enough to be a professional."
The Lakers have struggled as of late. They've lost three straight games and four of their past six. Redick didn't call out players by name but was vocally frustrated by his team's forgettable performance against Houston.
"It's a matter of making the choice, and too often we have guys that don't want to make that choice," Redick said. "It's pretty consistent who those guys are."
The second-year coach said his group should prepare for a difficult practice after a day off tomorrow.
"Saturday's practice, I told the guys, it's going to be uncomfortable," Redick said. "The meeting is going to be uncomfortable. I'm not doing another 53 games like this."
The Lakers return to action on Sunday against the Sacramento Kings.
