A new update on the Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs is out. Jacobs left the game late on Sunday when the Packers faced the New York Giants. The Giants would fall to a 27-20 defeat, while the Packers are concerned about Jacobs’ status.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on the running back’s injury status on Monday via a post on X, indicating the 27-year-old won’t need surgery. He wrote:
“Packers standout RB Josh Jacobs’ knee is structurally sound, and no surgery is needed. … He’s considered day-to-day but could miss the game against the Vikings.”•

#Packers standout RB Josh Jacobs’ knee is structurally sound and no surgery is needed, per me and @TomPelissero. He’s considered day-to-day, but could miss the game against the #Vikings.

The running back seemed to have hurt his left knee in the first quarter of the game after getting knocked down by Jevon Holland. After attempting to remain in the game, Jacobs approached the sideline, apparently in pain, and later headed out for further checks.
Jacob entered Sunday’s game second in the league in rushing touchdowns. Before being forced off the game, he had recorded 40 rushing yards on seven carries.
Josh Jacobs has been one of the Packers’ most important offensive players. Missing him against a critical opponent like the Vikings is concerning for the team. However, it is somewhat comforting that he’s not expected out for long.
How has Josh Jacobs performed for the Packers?
Josh Jacobs, who joined Green Bay ahead of the 2024 season, has not missed a single game for the team. The former Las Vegas Raiders star finished last season with 1,671 scrimmage yards, including 1,329 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns.
So far this campaign, he has rushed for 648 yards and 11 scores in 10 games for the Packers, while catching 28 throws for 237 yards.
Josh Jacobs’ absence against the Vikings will pave the way for Emmanuel Wilson to start for the Packers. Wilson has put up solid backup shifts, including his appearance in last Sunday’s win against the Giants. He covered 40 yards on 11 carries, scoring a touchdown in the process.
Jacobs wasn’t the only injury scare the Packers got on Sunday, as quarterback Jordan Love also hurt his left shoulder and left the game. However, he returned to continue later in the first half. He spoke to the press about the injury following the game. He said:
“It was definitely not fun. It’s just a small injury, so we’ll re-evaluate it when we get back.”The Packers will face the Vikings next Sunday with the kickoff set for 1:00 p.m. (ET).
