Jonathan Taylor etched his name into the history book in the Indianapolis Colts' 31-25 win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. The running back became the Colts' all-time rushing touchdown leader with 65, overtaking Edgerin James, who recorded 64 touchdowns in his time with the franchise.

Taylor entered the Week 10 game as the No. 3 player on the team’s touchdown record. A three-touchdown performance at the Olympiastadion in Berlin saw him overtake James and Lenny Moore (63) to take the lead. He expressed his feelings about the milestone in his postgame press conference.

“Not only Edgerin, of course, I know he had the record,” Taylor said. “But you just think about the guys who we've had in this organization beforehand. And to be named amongst those legends, it means a lot. I don't take it for granted, but I also understand how those guys got there and how I got there.

“And it's the guys around you. It's the guys around you that support you. Like I mentioned, the guys on the edge, also the tight ends, the whole line. It's those guys who put you into that category. So I appreciate my teammates so much, and it means a lot.”

Jonathan Taylor rushed for 244 yards on 32 carries, highlighted by an 83-yard touchdown run, against the Falcons, taking him to 895 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns for the season. This continues to place him in the MVP conversation, an award that hasn't been won by a running back since Adrian Peterson in 2012.

Jonathan Taylor commends his teammates for his success on the field

Jonathan Taylor has been impressive for the high-flying Indianapolis Colts, and he once again put out another outstanding performance against the Atlanta Falcons. The running back commended his teammates, especially those on the offense, for his on-field success.

“They actually did a great job of penetrating all of the gaps," Taylor said. "But I just know that my guys on the edge, Pitt, Alec, when I bounce to the outside, there's no lack of trust. It's just hit the edge full speed. “Because I know once they see me spring to the outside, they're gonna turn around, find some work. And I think when you have that type of trust with the guys on the edge, you get those special runs like that. They're who make it go.”

With Jonathan Taylor and quarterback Daniel Jones at the top of their game, the Indianapolis Colts have been able to establish themselves as a potential contender for the Super Bowl. With an 8-2 record following the latest win, the expectations are high on the team as the season moves on.
