On Sunday night in Week 10, the Steelers play in Los Angeles against the Chargers. Snoop will surely be watching from somewhere.

Why is Snoop Dogg a Steelers fan?

Snoop Dogg is a Pittsburgh Steelers fan in part because of the era he became a sports fan.

It was the 1970s, and the Steelers were winning all the time. Terry Bradshaw combined with an amazing defense to win the Super Bowl four times in that decade.

In 2022, Snoop Dogg explained on a ManningCast on ESPN why he's a Steelers fan:

"Well in the 70s, you know, watching your dad [Archie Manning] and watching the Steelers and the Raiders and the Cowboys and the teams from the 70s, I fell in love with they great defense, the way they moved the ball, just the way they played football. It was fun to watch as a kid and as I got older, I fell more in love with them because I got a chance to meet the players, I got to meet coach [Bill] Cowher and Ben Roethlisberger, you know, Jerome Bettis and the rest of the guys and you know, I became a part of Steeler Nation.”

That 1970s Steelers defense was led by Mean Joe Greene. Snoop apparently appreciated that.

Snoop Dogg grew up in California, having been born in 1971. But in those days, it was pretty much the big games that were on national broadcast. And that era of Steelers played in a lot of big games.
