Jim Ross has finally broken his silence after he was accused of racism in WWE. The Hall of Fame commentator has called some of pro wrestling's most iconic moments and has served WWE in other roles as well.
Previously, veteran D-Von Dudley had mentioned that an official disliked him for the color of his skin in WWE. Then in an appearance on Duke Loves Rasslin, the tag team legend revealed that he was talking about Jim Ross.
Now, on his Grilling JR podcast, the veteran commentator has responded to the comments, breaking his silence on the accusations. Ross said that he was shocked to hear D-Von mention his name and said that it didn't even merit a response.
"That’s so absurd. It doesn't merit a response. I like D-Von. I like him today. I hired him and Bubba. I thought we did a good job of booking them. They made money. I was shocked to hear that, because I don’t recall ever having a cross word with D-Von Dudley... It took me totally off guard. I never said that to Devon, and why he would conjure up that, I guess to get attention," he said.JR said perhaps D-Von is not happy with his post-wrestling life as compared to his tag team partner Bubba Ray, aka Bully Ray, who has made a successful transition to broadcasting. Ross then again denied ever saying anything racist to D-Von.
"I can honestly say at my age and health situations and everything else, I got nothing to gain by saying, 'Yeah, I said that one time, and I really regret it.' I never said it," he added.Jim Ross says he doesn't see WWE legend wrestling again
During the podcast, Jim Ross talked about his former co-commentator Jerry "The King" Lawler. JR and King were the voice on Monday Night RAW for years before going separate ways.
Recently, in an interview, Lawler said even though his third stroke left him colorblind, he is not ruling out a return to the ring.
Responding to this, Jim Ross said if King can go for another match, he will support him but mentioned he doesn't see it happening.
