Bubba Wallace turned Santa for NASCAR Cup team 23XI Racing's members and handed out candy canes to everyone who made the nice list this year. However, team co-owner Denny Hamlin got a literal bag of coal, in a cheeky jab on Christmas Day.
In a recent social media post, Wallace was seen meeting and gifting candies to teammates Tyler Reddick and Reily Herbst at 23XI's race shop, Airspeed in Huntersville, North Carolina. The No. 23 driver then left a candy cane for Michael Jordon outside his office, but poured some coal for Hamlin after saying:
'Denny, you made the naughty list pal. I give you a whole box of coal."Hamlin apparently got into the naughty list when he pushed Wallace into the wall at Kansas Speedway earlier this season. During the last lap, the Joe Gibbs Racing star ran alongside Wallace and made contact that cost Wallace a chance to win the race and to lock a spot in the Round of 8.
The team shared the video on X, writing:
"Happy Holidays from Santa @BubbaWallace and everyone at Airspeed! Hopefully you made the nice list! 😅."Jokes aside, Bubba Wallace and Denny Hamlin met and cleared the air after the on-track clash, which also left 23XI Racing's two playoff Cup teams out of the Round of 8 this season.
"It was a good, heart-to-heart conversation. It came from a place of peace. It went better than I thought it would. He shared his side of things, and I shared mine and we had common ground," Bubba Wallace said.Meanwhile, Wallace wrapped up his 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season, finishing 11th in the final standings with six top-5 finishes and 14 top-10s. He got his first big win, the Brickyard 400, and broke a long drought at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in July. The 32-year-old also led a career high of 378 laps.
