The New York Jets have had a rough 2025 season. At 3-11, the Jets are one of the worst teams in the NFL and are likely heading towards a top-5 pick in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft.

With the Jets struggling so much this season, there was some speculation that head coach Aaron Glenn could be one and done. At various points throughout the year, the Jets have faced such questions, but every time, Glenn's job has seemed safe.

But, how about heading into Week 16? According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, not only is Glenn's job safe for the 2026 NFL season, but it was never in doubt.

Aaron Glenn gets firm update on Jets HC job

"While the record hasn't improved - at 3-11, the Jets are actually a game behind last year's pace - I'm told that 'one-and-done' was never under consideration," Rusini reports.

Despite the shaky season and some major concerns long-term, the Jets and owner Woody Johnson have no plans to blow things up after a rough 2025 season.

The Jets whiffed on Justin Fields and his $40 million deal, and while the team needs to add a lot of talent on defense after trading away Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams, Darren Mougey and Glenn have the means to do so.

They have two first-round picks in 2026 and an extra second-round pick this upcoming draft cycle as well. While their third-round pick is with the Philadelphia Eagles from the Hasan Reddick trade, the Jets still have plenty of ammo to build a team.

It's been a rough 2025 season for Glenn in his rookie year as a head coach, but the Detroit Lions product has the faith of ownership, and with some strong draft capital over the next two seasons, the Jets will look to build a contender in the coming years.

It's far from ideal for the Jets, with so many holes to fill on both sides of the ball, but with a young roster, plenty of draft picks, and a coach who has the faith of ownership and the players, there's some hope for the Jets looking into the future.

Glenn's job is safe, and it never was in question. The Glenn-Mougey combination is getting at least one more season, and if all goes well, they could make their mark on Jets history for a long time.
