Phillies available funds revealed amid target payroll of $314 million

The Philadelphia Phillies have made a few big moves so far this offseason, and while they've yet to sign two contracts above $30 million, they've spent $182 million total so far this offseason.

Kyle Schwarber is back on a $150 million, five-year deal, while Adolis Garcia is signed for $10 million in 2026, and Brad Keller joined the bullpen on a $22 million two-year deal. But, after those moves, how much money is left?

According to Matt Gelb of The Athletic, the Phillies' target payroll is $314 million. And, after the team's current payroll is roughly calculated, the Phillies now have approximately $14 million left to spend this winter.

"The Phillies are expected to have a similar payroll to last season's approximate $314 million," Gelb reports. "Their current figure is near $300 million."

While the $182 million invested into Garcia, Keller, and Schwarber is no small number, the Phillies still have some room to spend this winter.

J.T. Realmuto, or a new starting catcher, is a priority and worth keeping a close eye on. Depending on how much the Phillies spend on their new catcher, the team might or might not have some room to make more moves.

Nick Castellanos and Alec Bohm are both potential trade candidates, which could wind up freeing up some space on the payroll. Most of their other potential cost-cutting moves aren't likely, especially after Matt Strahm was traded away, saving $7.5 million

The Phillies could use some more rotation help, a new starting catcher, a right-handed hitting outfield bat, and potentially a corner infield upgrade.

Barring a sudden change in plans, the Phillies will have $14 million or so to work with for the rest of the offseason.

Any more big moves aren't likely to happen, unless a free agent market collapses. Then the Phillies might get involved. But, for now, it looks like the Phillies will be conservative with their spending, looking maintain a $314 million total payroll in 2026.
