Jayden Daniels injury update from Ian Rapoport is better than expected news

The Washington Commanders were dealt the knockout blow for their 2025 season on Sunday night when Jayden Daniels suffered a dislocated elbow in the fourth quarter of the blowout loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

The video was tough to watch and it was immediately assumed he would miss the rest of the 2025 campaign after he arm bent awkwardly on the play he got hurt.

However, it appears that the injury isn't as serious as it could have been and there is at least some hope he could return this season.

Jayden Daniels injury update

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Daniels will "miss several games," but he adds that the Commanders quarterback's injury is "not as bad as it could've been."

The Commanders will know more on Monday when Daniels gets an MRI.

"Commanders QB Jayden Daniels, who left Sunday’s loss with his left arm immobilized, suffered a dislocated elbow and will have an MRI today to determine how long he’s out, sources say," Rapoport reported. "The belief is it’s not as bad as it could’ve been. But Daniels will miss several games."

One thing that will help Daniels' recovery is the fact that the injury occurred to his non-throwing shoulder. However, it's hard to say for sure how long he'll be out exactly until we know the extent of the damage.

While all of that is great news, it still doesn't change the course of the Commanders' season, which was already on life support before the team lost Daniels and fell to 3-6.

Even if Daniels is able to make it back late in the regular season, the Commanders are going to be well out of playoff contention by then and it won't make sense to risk bringing him back for meaningless games.

Now, it'll be interesting to see if the Commanders will be sellers at the trade deadline with their season in the toilet.

Washington entering the picture as a seller would be a last-minute shake-up ahead of what could be a very busy deadline.
