Philadelphia 76ers All-Star forward Paul George has yet to make his season debut, as he continues to recover from knee surgery.
The All-Star underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee during the offseason after battling nagging knee injuries during the 2024-25 campaign.
76ers head coach Nick Nurse has provided an update on George and Jare McCain.
"He is," Nurse stated to George. "There’s nothing new, really. I know that he had a good workout yesterday — both him and Jared — that was live-ish, 3-on-3. It was good. He is progressing and we'll just see how it goes."
Despite George's absence, the 76ers are off to an excellent start, sitting at 5-1 following a recent win over the Brooklyn Nets. The team found its rhythm thanks to the stellar play of Tyrese Maxey and Rookie guard VJ Edgecomb.
Maxy has elevated his game, averaging. 33.7 points,9.0 assists on 46.3% shooting. While Edgecomb has emerged as an early Rookie of the Year favorite thanks to his scoring explosio.
Still, the team wants to take a cautious approach with George's recovery. He's coming off a disappointing season one, where he averaged 16.2 points and 5.3 rebounds. Rebound,4.3 assists, and 1.8 steals on 43% from the field across 41 games.
George signed a massive contract with the 76ers last offseason, and when healthy, can still be a difference maker on a 76ers team that has championship aspiration.
If George can return near All-Star form, it would be hard to count out the 76ers in the Eastern Conference.
The 76ers' upcoming stretch of games features a back-to-back against the Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers. Though there is no timetable for George's return, his improving workouts are promising signs for the 76ers, who are already proving themselves as a top team in the Eastern Conference.
