Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant is reportedly expected to miss approximately two weeks due to a Grade 1 right calf strain. According to NBA insider Shams Charania, the two-time All-Star's injury is set to be re-evaluated in two weeks.
Grizzlies say star guard Ja Morant will be re-evaluated in two weeks due to a Grade 1 right calf strain.
Morant suffered the injury during Saturday's 108-100 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. During the first quarter, Morant was noticeably limping after colliding with Cavaliers guard Sam Merrill for a rebound. The Grizzlies star checked out with 6:01 left in the period and immediately went to the locker room.

Ja Morant's injury is another blow to his tough start this season. Through 12 games, the 6-foot-2 guard has put up just 17.9 points per game, his lowest since his rookie campaign in 2019-20.
He is also averaging career lows in rebounds per game (3.5), field goal percentage (35.9%), 3-point percentage (16.7%) and minutes per game (28.8).
How many games will Ja Morant miss?
Ja Morant will miss at least seven games before his injury re-evaluation at the end of the month. Depending on the result of the assessment, he could miss more time.
The Memphis Grizzlies star will first miss the team's game against Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday. He will next miss Thursday's game against the Sacramento Kings, Saturday against the Dallas Mavericks and on Monday against the Denver Nuggets.
Morant will be unavailable for a couple of NBA Cup games against the New Orleans Pelicans and the LA Clippers on Nov. 26 and 28, respectively. Memphis will have a rematch vs. the Kings on Nov. 30 before Morant's injury re-evaluation. The earliest he could return will be on Dec. 2 against San Antonio.
The Grizzlies (4-10) are already lacking depth at point guard, with Scotty Pippen Jr. (toe), Ty Jerome (calf) and Javon Small (toe) also dealing with injuries. When Morant went out on Saturday, Vince Williams Jr. and Cam Spencer got the majority of the minutes.
Memphis has also recently signed rookie guard Jahmai Mashack to a two-way deal to add depth.
