Aaron Rodgers is believed to have sustained a “sight break” in his left, non-throwing wrist, which caused him to exit Sunday’s 34-12 Steelers victory over the Bengals late in the second quarter.
Rodgers, who spent two seasons with the Jets before arriving in Pittsburgh, will have more testing on Monday to determine the severity and length of time he’ll be out, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.
Mason Rudolph came into the game to start the second half for the Steelers and the team described Rodgers as questionable to return due to a left hand injury at the time.
Rodgers had thrown an incomplete pass on his final pass attempt before he left the game.
He finished the game with 116 yards on 9-of-15 passing and a touchdown throw before he left with the injury.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin told reporters after the game that he had spoken with Rodgers following the win.
“He was excited about the win,” Tomlin said. “I just talked to him, but that’s all we talked about. We didn’t talk about his injury. We talked about the significance of the win.”
Tomlin also sidestepped questions about whether Rodgers could have returned to the game in the second half.
“I don’t have the answer to that to be honest with you,” he said. “I’ll have more information next time we talk.”
The injury appeared to have happened sometime right around the end of the first half, when Rodgers was tackled after getting rid of the ball and he landed on his left wrist and hand.
Rodgers had entered Week 11 with 183 completions for 1,853 yards and 18 touchdowns and seven interceptions while helping to lead the Steelers to a 5-4 record.
Rudolph completed 12 of 16 passing attempts against the Bengals after coming into the game and threw for 127 yards and a touchdown.
