Is the ‘Project Hail Mary’ Movie Streaming on Netflix or Amazon Prime Video?

Ryan Gosling is going to space, again, in his new blockbuster sci-fi flick, Project Hail Mary, which opens in theaters everywhere this weekend.

Project Hail Mary is the highly-anticipated adaptation of Andy Weir’s popular 2021 sci-fi novel of the same name. The screenplay was adapted by Buffy veteran Drew Goddard, and directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (The Lego Movie, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse). Gosling, who also produced the film, stars as Dr. Ryland Grace, an astronaut who is sent into space to save humanity. The only problem? He can’t remember any of that. He wakes up on a spaceship, alone, with no memory of how he got there, where he’s going, or what he’s supposed to be doing.

Also starring Sandra Hüller, James Ortiz, and Lionel Boyce, Project Hail Mary is poised to be the first big summer movie of 2026. If you want the full experience, you should definitely go see it on the big screen. But if you want to wait to watch the movie at home, then read on for what we know about when and where the Project Hail Mary movie will be streaming.

Where to watch the Project Hail Mary movie:

For now, Project Hail Mary will only available to watch in a movie theater, when it opens in the U.S. on Friday, March 20. You can find a showing near you via Fandango. Project Hail Mary is not yet available to watch online or on streaming.

Is the Project Hail Mary movie streaming on Netflix?

Project Hail Mary is not streaming on Netflix and likely will not be on Netflix any time soon, due to the fact that the film is not a Netflix movie. Project Hail Mary is an Amazon MGM movie, and therefore will likely go to streaming on Amazon’s Prime Video.

You will be able to purchase Project Hail Mary on Amazon Prime Video when the movie becomes available to buy and rent on digital, likely in about a month. You will also likely able to watch Project Hail Mary streaming on Prime Video, free with a Prime subscription, around the same time.

Another Amazon MGM movie, Mercy, was released on digital platforms about one month after opening in theaters, and will be streaming on Amazon Prime next week, about two months after the movie opened in theaters. If Project Hail Mary follows a similar release strategy, you might see Project Hail Mary on digital around late April 2026, and streaming free on Prime Video around late May 2026.

But this is all speculation. Project Hail Mary is highly anticipated movie that is likely to do well at the box office, and it’s likely that MGM will want to keep the film in theaters for longer than a month.
