The Los Angeles Lakers will be looking to bounce back from a 103-88 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers when they travel to Phoenix to take on the Suns on Tuesday night.

Unfortunately, the Lakers will have to try to get the win without the services of their superstar guard.

Luka Doncic ruled out vs. Suns due to calf contusion

Luka Doncic has been ruled out of the game against Phoenix due to a left calf contusion. He suffered the injury in the game against the Clippers. He’s currently day-to-day moving forward beyond the game in Phoenix.

Two months into his first full season in L.A., Doncic is a legitimate MVP candidate. In 21 games so far, he’s averaging a league-leading 34.1 points per performance, along with 8.8 assists and 8.6 rebounds. His productive play has been a driving factor in the Lakers’ strong start to the season. They currently sit fourth in the Western Conference with a record of 19-8.

After the game against the Suns, the Lakers will be back in action against the Houston Rockets on Thursday night. It remains to be seen whether Doncic will be available for that contest.

In addition to Doncic, Gabe Vincent and Rui Hachimura have also both been ruled out of the game for L.A.

The meeting between Phoenix and L.A. will be the third of the month between the two teams. The Suns won the first matchup on Dec. 1, but the Lakers evened the score a couple weeks later on Dec. 14. So, whoever wins on Tuesday night will take the lead in the season series. The teams will also meet again in February and April.
