The Kansas Jayhawks have one of the top freshmen in the country on their roster, Darryn Peterson.
The only problem is that sometimes, Peterson ends up not playing as much as you might expect.
That included in the recent showcase came against BYU and AJ Dybantsa. Peterson was a star in the first half. He didn't play in the second half.
It's been a whole season like that for Peterson, and it leaves each night a bit of a mystery.
Kansas has another ranked clash on the docket on Monday, Feb. 2 against Texas Tech. They'll need Peterson to help them win.
Is Darryn Peterson playing tonight?
Yes, Peterson is supposed to play on Monday night for Kansas against Texas Tech.
That hasn't always meant as much as it should, though. Peterson's usage is confusing.
Kansas has called it cramps at various times, but Peterson doesn't always appear to be getting treatment for cramps.
He's been accused of load managing before he heads to the NBA after this season.
— Aaron Torres Podcast (@AaronTorresPod) February 2, 2026This certainly seems like it'll be a story the rest of the season, and throughout the NBA Draft process.
Peterson has otherworldly availability. Thus far, his availability seems to be a different matter altogether.
