Inter Miami are considering a move for Lionel Messi’s 2022 FIFA World Cup-winning Argentine teammate, Angel Correa, as per reports.
Currently at Tigres UANL, Correa joined the Liga MX side from Atletico Madrid in July for a reported fee of €8 million. He quickly adapted to life in Mexico, registering 14 goal contributions in 23 appearances for Tigres UANL and helping the club finish second in the Apertura 2025.
According to a report from ESPN’s Raza Deportiva podcast, Inter Miami are planning to prise Correa away from Tigres UANL. The 30-year-old has a similar playing profile to Tadeo Allende and would be expected to provide competition for his compatriot on the right wing.
While a potential reunion with Lionel Messi is something that will arguably tickle Angel Correa’s fancy, it is said that Tigres UANL are not in a rush to part ways with the player. He has a deal with the Monterrey-based club that runs until 2030 and reportedly earns an annual salary of $4 million.
In light of the foregoing, it is believed that a potential move for Correa is far from simple and that the MLS Cup champions will have to cough up a significant amount before they can reach a transfer agreement with Tigres UANL.
Signing Correa should bolster Inter Miami’s attacking firepower, given his recent form with his current employers. Naturally a right winger, Correa can play almost any position in the final third, having done so at Tigres UANL in the just-concluded season.
Inter Miami face stiff competition for Tadeo Allende – Reports
While reports have linked the Herons with a move for Correa, their interest in the former Atletico man seems to stem from the uncertainty surrounding the future of Tadeo Allende.
Allende joined Miami from Celta Vigo on loan earlier this year. With his loan term expiring at the end of the year, he is expected to return to the LaLiga side. While Miami are reportedly hoping to reach an agreement with Vigo for Allende, Diario Ole claims that River Plate have submitted a $2.5 million offer for 50 percent of the player’s rights and are waiting for a response.
Adding to the intrigue, Western Conference rivals Austin FC have also shown interest in Allende, putting Inter Miami in a bidding battle. Allende was crucial to Miami’s MLS Cup triumph, scoring nine goals in the playoffs, the most in an MLS postseason.
