PGA Tour star calls Charley Hull 'a breath of fresh air' for golf
Padraig Harrington and Charley Hull competed in the recently concluded 2025 PNC Championship and Grant Thornton Invitational, respectively. With both tournaments being played in a team format, the former had a lot to say about the Englishwoman during a press conference that week.
The PGA Tour star called Hull a 'breath of fresh air' for the world of women's professional golf. Harrington stated that she is an inspiration and a good role model for the next generation of women golfers.
Here's a look at what Padraig Harrington had to say about the 29-year-old (via The Golfing Gazette):
“There’s no doubt that Charley is a breath of fresh air, quite a change in the women’s game. I think the ladies have been taught over the years, it’s consistently hit the fairways, hit the greens. Charley’s is much more swashbuckling. Gives it a rip off the tee. Finds it, gets it up and down from there, and probably is playing the game more like the men are playing the game. I think she would be an interesting role model for the young girls going forward that a lot of them, she could change the concept of the way the ladies’ game is played, and you will possibly see in three, four years’ time and onwards, more aggressive players, more hit and miss players that hit it wild, hit it long."The Irishman went on to compliment her aggressive approach off the tee, which has come to be known as the LPGA Tour star's signature move on the golf course.
Padraig Harrington teamed up with his 22-year-old son for the 2025 PNC Championship. They claimed the joint seventh place at the tournament with two other teams.
Charley Hull paired up with Michael Brennan for the Grant Thornton Invitational and tied for second place at the prestigious tournament with two other teams including that of her fellow competitor, Nelly Korda.
