#5 - Dre'Mont Jones, Baltimore Ravens
The former Denver Broncos pass rusher stepped up against a formidable New England Patriots squad in prime time, delivering two tackles and a sack. If you are in desperate need of someone to fill a spot and are in a deep league, you could do worse than Jones, who has earned seven sacks this season.
#4 - James Williams, Tennessee Titans
The Tennessee Titans were lucky enough to face the broken-down version of the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 16, and James Williams capitalized. The pass rusher earned a whopping nine tackles and a sack. There's a chance that the surge could spark some momentum to close the year. As such, Williams is worth a shot if you need someone for your fantasy football squad.
#3 - Greg Rousseau, Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills have not been known for its defense this season, but one name to highlight is defensive end Greg Rousseau. The pass rusher has earned 3.5 sacks in his last two games against the New England Patriots and Cleveland Browns, and has a chance to keep the momentum going.
If you need someone with a chance to explode in the final fantasy football game of the season, go with Rousseau.
#2 - James Pearce Jr., Atlanta Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons are even less known for its defense than the Buffalo Bills, but the team might have a budding star in its midst going under the radar. James Pearce Jr. has earned at least half a sack in each of his last seven games. While his tackle numbers leave room for improvement, Pearce has about as reliable a floor as anyone still left on the fantasy football waiver wire.
#1 - Drake Thomas, Seattle Seahawks
Drake Thomas proved against the Los Angeles Rams that he can step up in a big way. Thomas recorded 13 total tackles against the red-hot Rams offense, delivering a fourth-straight game with at least five tackles. Thomas has been consistent all season long with a chance for a spike. If he's still available in your league, get him.
Rookie Nick Emmanwori had a concussion scare against the Los Angeles Rams, according to a Dec. 18 report by Seahawks media. If he's destined to have some injury trouble to close the year, it will only open things up more for Thomas.
