Ian Rapoport's Raiders trade rumor gives Cowboys, Lions, 49ers low-profile edge rusher target

The Las Vegas Raiders' season is on life support. Pete Carroll's squad fell to 2-6 on the year after suffering a 30-29 overtime loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

With the Raiders nowhere near playoff contention, it would be wise for the team to at least consider trading some of its veterans and players on expiring contracts.

One player who could have some value on the market is edge rusher Malcolm Koonce, who will be a free agent after the season. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport believes there's a chance Las Vegas moves Koonce ahead of the November 4 deadline.

"Arden Key, the Dolphins' Jaelan Phillips and Bradley Chubb, and the Raiders' Malcolm Koonce are among the edge rushers who could be traded," Rapoport wrote.

Koonce has tallied one sack and 14 quarterback pressures in 234 snaps in 2025. The 27-year-old has been in a rotational role for most of the year, but has seen increased snaps over the last few games.

The Dallas Cowboys, Detroit Lions, and San Francisco 49ers are all in need of edge rushers, and though Koonce isn't a high-level pass rusher, the Buffalo product would provide a solid boost to any contender's defensive line. Koonce's most productive campaign came in 2023, where he tallied eight sacks and 52 quarterback pressures.

Though an ACL tear caused him to miss the entire 2024 season and has slowed him down, Koonce can still be a contributor as a rotational pass rusher. Dallas, Detroit, and San Francisco are pursuing game changers at edge rusher, but taking a flyer on Koonce would also be a savvy move from one of the NFC teams.
