Nebraska Volleyball's Harper Murray opened up on how she overcame her opponent from the Oregon team with a shift in mindset. The Huskers locked horns with the Oregon team on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at the Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Murray showed an impressive performance throughout the game, scoring nine kills and nine digs. The junior player, along with Rebekah Allick, helped the team gain a 13-11 lead in the first set. However, later in the set, the Ducks put the team under pressure with a 16-15 scoreline. Oregon's Alanah Clemente was keeping Murray on her heels.

In the press conference, Murray reflected on how she switched the game with her transformational mentality, stating she first forced Clemente into errors and then recorded a kill and a solo block for set point, which helped in winning the first set.

"I honestly think it was just a switch in my mentality early on in the game. That setter was getting me, and I was struggling to be there on time. So I think that was just a switch in mentality for me, and really focusing on being early and being on time to my block because we have a good defense back there, but it's not always going to be there to save you sometimes. So that's on me. But I think I got better throughout the game." (1:06 onwards)

Nebraska Volleyball's Harper Murray expresses her opinion on what could be improved in her game

Nebraska Volleyball's Harper Murray once reflected on her form in junior year. In an interview with Hail Varsity, she opened up about watching the freshmen players give in extra time to train, while recollecting her initial days. She further expressed her opinion that she feels she no longer needs to train on the technical aspect of the game, but focus on her mental approach.

"I feel so old. I feel so old, we're like we end practice and some of the freshmen will stay and get extra reps, and I'm like, that's such a freshman thing, because I feel like I'm kind of at the age where I might not get any better as a volleyball player. It's more about how I can strengthen my mental game in a leader in being more consistent and being smarter. I feel like volleyball skill kind of goes away over time and that's kind of how it goes, but I feel like I'm at the point where I'm just trying to grow in other aspects."

The Nebraska Volleyball team will return to court to compete against Illinois on November 6, 2025.
