“I miss Muay Thai” - Nabil Anane eyes next defense of his bantamweight Muay Thai gold in 2026

Reigning and undisputed ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion Nabil Anane of Algeria and Thailand has found great results in his kickboxing stint in the world’s largest martial arts organization.

The 21-year-old six-foot-four superstar is currently 1-0 in the sport, with a big win over Japanese fighter Hiromi Wajima at ONE 173: Superbon vs. Noiri last month. But Anane will be the first to admit that he misses competing in ‘the art of eight limbs’.

Speaking in a recent interview with ONE Championship, Anane said he would be looking to defend his Muay Thai gold next:

“Personally, I want to come back and fight in Muay Thai because it’s been quite long since I fought in Muay Thai. I’ve been preparing myself for kickboxing, and I just want to come back and fight in Muay Thai because I miss Muay Thai. I’m not really sure, but I don’t really care. If I need to fight again in kickboxing, then I’ll just fight again.”

Anane added:

“It’s just the feeling. I have more experience in Muay Thai and it’s more my domain. Muay Thai is my thing.”

Needless to say, Anane is one of the most talented strikers in ONE Championship, and is an absolute problem for his opponents.

Nabil Anane sends stark warning to future foes: “It will be even harder for my opponents”

Nabil Anane has one message for potential opponents who are avoiding him, don’t wait too long to fight.

Anane told Nick Atkin:

“I'll have more, even more experience, and it will be even harder for my opponents. If they wait for a long time, it will be harder for them, you know. So now I'm just starting. I'm in the beginning. If they don't want to lose, if they want to have more chances, it's now, man. If they let me have a lot of experience, that's hard for them. So that's what I want to say.”
